What is the 2.5 Metre Rule?
The 2.5-metre rule is part of permitted development rules. It states:
If your garden room is within 2 metres of a boundary, it must not exceed 2.5 metres in height (measured from ground level to the top of the structure).
If it’s more than 2 metres from a boundary, the height limits increase to:
3 metres for flat roofs.
4 metres for dual-pitched roofs (e.g., gable designs).
